Kinjoya Offers Home Waterproofing Solution

Critical Demands and Challenges

For individual homeowners, the waterproofing performance of their personal residence is critically important. Once a house develops leakage problems, it not only affects the comfort of daily life but may also cause damage to walls, floors, furniture and personal belongings, potentially even leading to disputes with neighbors. For example, bathroom leaks can cause water stains, peeling and falling of ceiling materials on the floor below; roof leaks during rainy seasons can make interior walls damp, blister and develop mold, severely affecting the living environment and significantly reducing the building's service life.

The costs of repairing such damage are often substantial, and the disruption to family life during remediation work can be considerable. Therefore, during home renovation or routine maintenance, individual homeowners need to pay special attention to the quality of waterproofing work, selecting appropriate waterproofing materials and professional construction teams. Regular inspection and maintenance of areas prone to leakage, such as bathrooms, kitchens, balconies and roofs, are essential practices. This proactive approach ensures the family home maintains good waterproofing performance, ultimately creating a dry, comfortable and safe living space for all family members while preserving the property's long-term value.

A Landmark Project Practice

In our collaboration with individual homeowners, we consistently find that they place the greatest emphasis on two critical areas: roofing waterproofing and interior waterproofing of their residences. Roof waterproofing serves as the first line of defense against rainwater penetration, and its quality directly affects the safety and comfort of the top floor as well as all floors below. Whether dealing with pitched roofs or flat roofs, suitable waterproofing materials must be carefully selected based on roof structure, local climate conditions, and specific exposure levels.

For a recent residential project, we recommended a combination of self-adhesive waterproofing membranes and single-component polyurethane coatings—both are exceptionally user-friendly options that deliver professional-grade results without requiring specialized equipment. Self-adhesive membranes come with inherent adhesion properties, requiring no complex heating equipment or torches; simply clean the substrate thoroughly and apply them directly, achieving tight bonding to roof decks or interior surfaces to effectively block moisture penetration. These membranes are particularly advantageous for DIY-conscious homeowners and for areas where open flames would be unsafe. Single-component polyurethane coatings are supplied in liquid form and can be applied by brush or trowel, penetrating deeply into substrate gaps and irregularities to form continuous, seamless waterproofing films with excellent elasticity. They are particularly suitable for areas with numerous pipe penetrations and complex corners, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and balconies, adapting well to different surface shapes and effectively eliminating potential leak paths. The combination of these two systems provided comprehensive protection for both the building envelope and interior wet areas, addressing the homeowner's primary concerns while offering simplicity of application and long-term reliability.
