Kinjoya Offers Hospital Waterproofing Solution

Critical Demands and Challenges

Hospital buildings demand exceptionally high standards for waterproofing, as this directly affects not only the safety and hygiene of the medical environment but also the stable operation of sophisticated equipment, making it a critical aspect of healthcare facility construction.

Waterproofing serves as the foundation for hospital safety and hygiene—areas such as consultation rooms and patient wards must be rigorously protected against moisture and corrosion to prevent bacterial growth caused by dampness, thereby providing patients with a safe and sanitary treatment environment. Underground areas and moisture-prone zones require particular attention to prevent water and corrosive substances from damaging facilities, ensuring the continuous delivery of medical services. Effective waterproofing is deeply integrated with hospital functionality. Good waterproofing not only protects the building structure and extends its service life but also reduces maintenance costs and improves hospital operational efficiency. Looking ahead, as technology advances, innovations in waterproofing materials and techniques will become even more closely aligned with serving healthcare facilities, creating safer and more comfortable environments for both patients and medical staff.

A Landmark Project Practice

Our company once undertook the waterproofing project for the Campus of Friendship Hospital, a large comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, education, research, and disease prevention. This facility plays a significant role in the diagnosis and treatment of complex critical illnesses, the application of major new technologies, clinical research innovation, and the cultivation of high-level medical talent.

The project primarily utilized our KINJOYA FM series SBS waterproofing membranes and KINJOYA PU series waterproofing coatings. During construction, we strictly adhered to the special specifications and standards required for hospital waterproofing, implementing meticulous waterproofing solutions tailored to the functional demands of different areas. For critical zones with extremely high requirements for cleanliness and leak prevention, such as operating rooms and ICUs, we implemented rigorous control over substrate flatness and dryness during the surface preparation stage. This ensured that KINJOYA PU series waterproofing coatings could be applied uniformly, forming continuous, seamless waterproofing membranes. The excellent elasticity and adhesion of these coatings effectively accommodated minor structural deformations that might occur in the building, eliminating potential leakage risks. For large-area waterproofing applications such as roofs and basements, KINJOYA FM series SBS waterproofing membranes, with their high strength, high elongation, and excellent weather resistance, were applied using the torch-on method to form robust waterproofing layers. These layers effectively resisted erosion from rainwater, groundwater, and potentially chemically corrosive agents present in the hospital environment, ensuring comprehensive protection for the entire facility.
