Elastomer Modified Asphalt Waterproofing

KINJOYA FM PLAIN is a flexible waterproof material made by impregnating and coating asphalt modified with styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) thermoplastic elastomer, using polyester felt, fiberglass felt, or fiberglass-reinforced polyester felt as the base, and covering the top and bottom surfaces with a polyethylene film.

Designed for waterproofing building structures, including walls, foundations, and planter boxes, with primary applications in industrial, commercial, and residential roofing systems.

KINJOYA FM PLAIN Install Guide


  • Apply over clean, dry, dust and debris-free substrates. Primerequired substrates prior to application.

  • When re-roofing, remove all prior roofing materials down to aclean debris-free substrate and properly close-off all abandoned roof penetrations.

  • Do not apply over shingles or any granulated surface.

  • While installing KINJOYA FM PLAIN:

    a. Start at the low point of the roof.

    b. Unroll the material and allow to relax then re-roll themembrane once relaxed.

    c. Install with traditional torch roofing techniques ensuring proper heating of the roofing material. Fully torch the burn off film creating a pool of asphalt. Pay close attention to the sidelap.

  • Details and flashing may be installed using hot asphalt, coldapplication or torch techniques. Check project details for properinstallation requirements.

KINJOYA FM PLAIN Storage


  • Store the product upright in a cool warehouse, retaining inner supports. Keep it on pallets with the original protective film intact. Stack no more than two pallets high, using dunnage between layers for isolation. 

  • Protect from direct sunlight, heat sources, freezing temperatures, organic solvents, and physical impact. 

  • The product is suitable for long-term storage when these conditions are maintained.

  • All information is nominal values at the time of manufacturing, and related performance properties are based on the "as manufactured" condition. Actual values may vary depending on application methods, substrate conditions, environmental factors, and specific product configurations.
